Versatile PoE Capability
The physical network interface of the device consists of 5 gigabit Ethernet ports, and the eth0 and eth4 connectors are interconnected with each other using PoE Passthrough. This means that by supplying Passive PoE 24V power it is possible to distribute it on the second port. This way you can power not only the router itself, but also another connected device that supports the corresponding PoE standard. The device can also be powered from a regular 220V network via a 12VDC socket - a special power adapter is included in the package for this purpose.
The EdgeRouter X router is equipped with quite a productive hardware, which includes a dual-core processor with a clock speed of 88 mHz and 256 MB of memory. All this allows processing incoming packets at a speed of up to 1 Gbps, which is enough for stable operation even under peak load. At the same time, the risk of packet loss is minimal.
Centralized Management
The EdgeRouter™ X is supported and managed by UNMS™, a comprehensive application with an intuitive UI. A single control plane manages registered EdgeMAX® devices across multiple sites.
